A small linocut of a cuckoo flying in front of the Skirrid Mountain near Abergavenny, South Wales. This is one of a series of small prints showing the landscape and buildings around beautiful South Wales. It is designed to fit in a small IKEA RIBBA frame and would look good on any wall.
The print size is 4 inches square and is unframed but comes in a mountboard with an outer size of 8 inch square and inner size of 5 inches square, protected by a backing board and a plastic sleeve.
The inks used are water based and the paper is acid free. Three linoblocks are used, one for each colour. The print is signed and dated in pencil. Please note that there will be some colour variation from the photograph.
The linocut is one of a series of prints that I have done depicting the environment in South Wales. This one is a view of the first cuckoo I had ever seen, that was flying near to where I was working High on the Blorenge Mountain looking toward Abergavenny and The Skirrid, I wanted to see how much detail I could get into the plate by carving details of the rushes and rocks. I was also inspired by the beautiful prints made by John Craxton for the book, 'The Poets Eye'.
It is important to me that the work I produce to be affordable so that anybody have a piece of original art on their walls.
