Rustic Design Solid Oak End Grain Chopping Board

The board is approximately 25cm depth x 47cm width x 4cm height

This board is hand made, hand sanded, hand oiled and polished. It is 100% Oak.

All the wood I use for any of my projects is either upscaled, recycled or sourced from a reputable supplier, meaning, in general very well seasoned buy may have marks of being an aged natural product. The pictures show that actual board and I can upload more if you wish.

I wanted to create an end grain board along the lines of a butchers block. A butcher traditionally would use a heavy clever weilded with some force to create the various joints of meat; so the board had to be up to the job. I can honestly say from this recent creative experience that the end grain is unbeleiveably tough. It was like trying to hand sand concrete flat! OF all the boards I have made recently, actually I love this one. I love seeing the end grain, the marks in the wood , the deep satin finish of the oil. Even though it was a lot of hard work I have resolved myself to making more of these!

The board is finished in mineral oil and is food safe, there is no wax finish and therefore Vegan friendly.

Caring for you board:
As the board is solid wood it is NOT dishwasher safe, neither should the board be left to soak in the sink. Simply wipe down with soap and water to clean.

I wanted to make an end grain board - it's a different process,but I have to say I'm very pleased with the end result. I have decided to make more with other materials like Walnut, Beech and Cherry....
