Hi, a warm welcome to the Dragon Art Glass shop on Folksy. I'm Andrea, a full time glass addict (oops, artist!) living and working in the valleys of South Wales. I've had a little shop here on Folksy since about 2016, but can also often be found at local craft markets and in my studio in Senghenydd.
I always aim to send out orders as quickly as possible, (often within a day), but please be aware that I post only via Royal Mail.
To make things easier for you, I can gladly gift wrap any presents, add a hand-written note and send them directly to the recipient at no extra charge – just leave me a note and details when you checkout.
If you have any questions, then feel free to reach out and get in touch. Thank you for looking (and if you should decide to purchase , a huge thank you!)
I don't know about where you live, but the children in our valley were looking for rainbows on their daily walks during the lockdown. Hearts always represent love and care, and have in this time additionally become a symbol of hope, kindness and pride.
Each rainbow heart hug has been made of a 6mm thickness of glass, so is very sturdy and tactile. These are made of a mix of transparent and opaque glasses. Each colour of glass has been cut into strips, and assembled in order of the colours of the rainbow - sometimes the top of the heart will be red. sometimes the bottom of the heart will be red.
The glass is layered in the kiln, and fused. When this process is complete I mark the glass sheet with a template, then use my glass saw to cut out the heart shapes.
Once cut, the hearts are ground to make them as smooth as possible before returning to the kiln for a second process which rounds the cut edges.
Finally a small hole is drilled and a hanging ribbon attached. These have been very popular as gifts for teachers and teaching assistants.
This item will be posted to you by Dragon Art Glass within 2 days of receiving payment.
