DUE TO THE DEMAND FOR BEESWAX CANDLES WE'VE OPENED A NEW CANDLE SHOP!. PLEASE VISIT US AT www.folksy.com/shops/portobellocandleco
These abstract artworks have been created from layers and layers of beeswax which has been melted together with tree resin onto a solid birch board.
The edges of this piece have been finished with a traditional Japanese technique called Shou Sugi Ban which involves charring the wood before cleaning and waxing to enhance the unique grain of each board.
Measuring 6" x 6" x 2" this piece is freestanding but can just as easily be wall hung.
Please note that each piece of encaustic artwork is unique and cannot be replicated. Also take into consideration that colours will vary from monitor to monitor and photographs are as a guide only and are not to scale.
Encaustic work gets better as the wax cures and hardens and the colours will change slightly as this happens.
Encaustic medium is an age old artform dating back to the times of the ancient Egyptians. Under normal household circumstances the wax will not melt or fade and will last for many, many years if treated kindly as you would any other fine art form.
