I love the sound of Latin percussion and the Guiro is a South American instrument. Also used in Caribbean music such as Reggae. I made this one on the pole lathe when we were camping on our woodland field. Nothing like working out in the open air and as I'd got my guitar and Ness had her guiro going like the clappers the evening before by the fireside we were playing and singing a medley of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh & the Buena Vista Social Club numbers I decided I needed to make another of these excellent little instruments.
