Based on ancient Orkney celtic designs, the pyrographed wave pattern on this charming hand made circular wall clock represents the sea around our island home. The numerals are turned from laburnum wood with oak rings around the cardinals, representing the many ancient standing stones and circles here on the Orkney Isles. The name "Orkney" is written in runic form below the clock spindle.
Made from 4mm plywood, this hand made clock is 280mm diameter, has metal hands and a very quiet ticking quartz movement. It uses one AA battery (not supplied).
These islands inspire me in so many ways. The rich neolithic, Pictish, Celtic and Viking history still influences island life.
