Linotype Works - a black and white linocut print hand painted with watercolour, made by my own hand and printed on archival paper. I cycle past this historic listed building regularly and have seen it gradually being demolished until only parts of the facade remain. When the structure took on this Acropolis like shape it looked better than I'd ever seen it.

Paper size is 11" (w) x 14" (h) (27.9cm x 35.6cm)
The print fits in most standard 14" x 11" frames, or can be mounted in a 40cm x 30cm Ikea frame shown in the photos.

Printed on archival paper with vegetable based ink. Each print is then hand painted, so is unique and will vary slightly from the photos shown.
Each print comes unframed and unmounted.

Linotype transformed the newspaper industry from 1800s to the 1960s. The Linotype and Machinery Company (L&M) opened a factory in Broadheath (Altrincham) in 1897. At the height of its success, the firm employed more than 10,000 people to make typesetting machines for the national newspaper industry. Between 1897 and 1901 the Linotype Company built 185 houses for its employees and provided two football grounds, four tennis courts, two bowling greens, a cricket ground, a playground for children and allotments. It is thought that the Linotype estate was probably inspired by the industrial villages of Port Sunlight on the Wirral, Bourneville in Birmingham or Saltaire near Bradford.
