This 3D freestanding wave is made from Resin, a hardwearing yet stunning medium. Unlike glass, Resin is incredibly versatile and therefore there are no limits as to what you can create. Whilst the finish is like glass, Resin cannot crack or break. The range of colours and mediums is endless. Being a relatively new medium, there is a great demand for both 2D and 3D pieces of which I have been working on many.
This particular piece captures the wave in situ. The medium allows me to play with incredibly beautiful pigments, giving the item deep and rich colours, and transparency. I have used crystals to emulate the foam on the crest of the wave.
Sat on a windowsill, the sun will bounce off the colours and the crystals on the crest.
This stunning piece can be placed in any room and will most certainly be a conversation starter!

Living by the sea, I am lucky enough to be able to spend much of my free time walking along all the beaches. Each beach is unique in its beauty from the shells and rocks, to the water, whether crashing waves or calm waters. The sea, in particular can evoke so many senses and emotions, it can calm you, it can invigorate you, excite you, even scare you at times. In my years of painting I have always strived to recreate the sea and the movement of the water in various different mediums, but it wasn’t until I started using resin was I able to capture a literal snapshot of a wave. Using the adaptiveness of resin, I have been able to define the wave in both 2D and 3D. I am fascinated by the movement of the water, and how it moves, and also the power of water, the detail of each wave, the froth and the undercurrent.
