This beautiful William Morris design on sumptuous Liberty’s Tana Lawn fabric (100% soft cotton), is updated with a fresh modern colour palette! Designed by Morris himself and produced in 1883 - Strawberry thief – is one of William Morris’ most iconic designs.
I've selected a lovely area of the fabric featuring a naughty Thrush stealing a strawberry. The blue tinted thrush stands on a dark blue background, surrounded by foliage and flowers in blues and greens with deep pink strawberries, which I used to make a fabric covered flat backed button.
I then glued the button onto a birch plywood (FSC approved) wooden disc, then glued this onto a brass base metal gold plated adjustable ring base. I always use the best quality professional jewellery glue to aid in extra adhesion. Being adjustable, this ring will fit approximately UK Size M up to a UK size P (US: 6 1/2 to 8; EU: 52 1/2 - 62 1/4).
The button itself has a 19mm diameter and I have padded the button slightly to add height, so the height is approximately 8mm. The ring will come to you safe and carefully packaged in a hand folded (by me!) UK Made eco-friendly recycled kraft card deep jewellery box - perfect for gifting (or as a treat for yourself!). As this item is sent via small parcel, I have set the postage cost at a reduced price.
Strawberry Thief, is one of William Morris' most recognisable designs. He based the pattern and name on the thrushes which frequently stole the strawberries in the kitchen garden of his countryside home, Kelmscott Manor, in Gloucestershire. Despite the fact that this design was one of the most expensive printed furnishings available from Morris & Co., (due to the particular printing method employed) it became a firm favourite with clients.
Liberty’s of London first produced this truly classic design onto furnishing fabric in 1979 – although it was re-designed on a smaller scale on their Tana Lawn fabric in 1955 and has been brought right up to date with these striking colours!
