Description

I'm de-stashing my decals as I don't use them much anymore. They all come from Bailey decal Ltd. Here's a summary of the guidance I got from their website.

Blue Parkland Chintz: 11.5 x 22.5 cm
Soft Toys:
Rabbit 5.5 x 3.5 cm Giraffe & Mouse: 5.5 x 4 cm
Teddy: 5.5 x 5 cm Duck: 3.5 x 2.5 cm Dog: 6 x 3.5 cm

TO APPLY: Once cut to shape (if necessary), soak one at a time in tepid water until you can slide the decal off the backing paper. Apply to your glazed item from the backing paper. Make sure there's no air or water trapped underneath. Allow to dry 8 hours before firing.

FIRING GUIDANCE FOR DECALS
Vent your kiln during the early stages of the firing up to about 500c (932f). This will ensure that the smoke from the covercoat can clear from the kiln.

For guidance purposes only

Ramp rate: a steady consistent rise is recommended, 180 to 300 c per hour is good up to the peak. We would also recommend holding the peak temperature for a few minutes.

CERAMIC FIRING

Earthenware 780-800c (1436 – 1472f)
China 820-835c (1508 – 1535f)
Stoneware – 840c (1544f)
Porcelain – 830-860c (1526 – 1580f)

GLASS FIRING – float glass, bullseye glass etc

The advice here is for only the basic firing of a decal onto glass.
It is important not to “sandwich” the decal before it has been fired as this will trap the the burn off smoke in between the layers of glass.

A firing temperature of 720 – 740c (1328 – 1364f) is recommended.
