Flamework Glass Beaded silver Bangle by MidasTouch Jewels by Patsy in Wales
A handmade bead in black, green and silver is set into an open ended silver bangle. The first of these cabochon beads was an accident. I had made round beads but they had cracked in the kiln. As I has spent a long time making each of these beads I put them in the kiln as a higher heat to see what would happen. Low and behold I got a cabochon perfect for stone setting. The glass bead has a black base decorated with green glass, ivory and silver that all react with each other to create the interesting desing.
The silver bangle is open ended and fits to the wrist.

Sometimes large flamework beads will crack in the kiln, probably because I let them go cold and become shocked. Having spent and hour making a bead it is soul destroying to throw it away. So back into the kiln and ramp the temperature up again so that the broken bead melts slightly, now it can be used as a cabochon bead for setting into jewellery, hey presto you have a bangle.
