Custom Jewellery Making Course - One Day Do It Yourself Workshop

Most jewellery needs to be joined together in some way: a clasp, a chain, an ear wire, a bail or a ring. To do this heat is usually required for soldering but it is also possible to make strong joins in metal without the use of soldering such as end to end joins, split pins and rivets.
Metal can be decorated using hammers, punches and rolling mills.

This study day pays special attention to making these types of connection.

You will learn:

Ideal Tools for jewellery making including some home made items
Workshop Health & safety
How to bend and twist wire
How to Texture metal using hammers, punches and a rolling mill
How to use a saw to cut metal
How to use metal punches
How to create rivets; end to end joins, split pins, wrap over designs and riveting methods for joining metals
How to solder silver for rings and jump rings.

You can expect to make a pendant or a brooch, a ring and some earrings.

Fee includes a light lunch, sterling silver sheet and silver wire sufficient to make 2 pairs of earrings and 1 pendant, on a 16" chain, and a ring. Additional silver can be purchased.
