Item details

The bird flies with the stars as her guide. Her wing tips almost touching the star. This is the story of long journeys with only our senses to guide us.

The cabochon is made from eco silver. I have hand cut birches and the bird and enameled the necklace. The birch in a soft opaque grey, the bird in a deep blue black. The process takes many hours to complete.

I have then set into a 9ct gold bezel, with a silver back. I have flush set the 'star' which is a 1.5mm salt and pepper diamond into place.

The pendant is then set on a 9ct gold chain measuring 16 inches. The chain has a handmade clasp.

The piece is finished in a soft matte. The bird, birch and star is a petite and dainty piece measuring approx 1.5cm in width and 1.3cm in height.

The necklace comes boxed and wrapped.

I have carried around a piece of paper for many years which begins "I found out the other day that some birds migrate by reference to the stars, others to magnetic fields in the earth. Divine in a way..." I fell in love with this idea. I found it so incredible that birds migrate by reference to the stars and sun. I began to think of our relationship to our own journeys.
