This spalted beech table top has both the black figuring and a touch of reddish markings caused by the tree taking up chemicals from the soil it grew in, just to add to the special effect that it has caused in the top of this special table.
The top is supported with one diagonal leg set at an approximate angle of 22.5 degrees. This is a blonde version of beech, both the top and leg came from the south west and found in the wilds of Somerset.
The base is made from reddy brown English elm with a crazy knot in the middle, with cream coloured English ash long feet. The ash feet act as both an end clamp to stop the wood from moving and then as feet to allow the table to stand on carpet. This was designed and built by me.
Dimensions are approximate due to the shape of the top: 410mm (16”) long, 340mm (13.5”) wide, 455mm (17.75”) high. Weight 7.70 Kg (17pounds).
The table is made from organic, natural, solid wood and will distort if put near a heat source such as a radiator, it will also discolour if left in direct sunlight. The item you see here is the one you will receive and I have aimed to provide dimensions which are as accurate as possible. Please note that wood is a natural product and can be affected by its environment.

This is my first table made for this range of items, although I have built several different types of table over the last 40 years, this is the first in spalted beech. It’s just fun to work air dried timber and not kiln dried where the process is rushed and the timber is hardened from the kilning of the wood. We also get a chance to select different timbers from the woodland and sawmill, these timber species often miss the commercial wood sellers.
This makes this a good looking table to use in your house.
This item has been signed and numbered on the base, as it’s handmade by me in the UK.
