Shop Announcement:

Hi! Welcome to Dragon Art Glass on Folksy!

My name is Andrea and I'm a full time glass artist living and working in the valleys of South Wales.
I make a variety of different glassy items, and use different glass working techniques, so you will find things such as plates and bowls; beads and buttons, pictures, suncatchers and jewellery. Due to the processes used, very little of my work is identical, but mostly I am able to match items, so if you see something and it sells before you get chance to buy - feel free to get in touch.
I make a mix of fused, flameworked/lampworked and stained glass, and hope to soon be able to produce blown glass.
I am happy to accept commissions, so if you have something in mind I'm always up for a challenge!
Hope you enjoy my little piece of Folksy.

Love this

This stained glass panel in pale blue and white wispy glass and clear textured glass has been made using the copper foil technique. It reminds me of my chemistry roots because I think it looks like the molecular structure of a substance.
The technique of copper foiling stained glass was used initially by Tiffany. It involves cutting sheets of glass to shape and size, then wrapping the edges with sticky backed copper foil, and burnishing it to the glass until it is smooth and well stuck. The pieces are then assembled to the pattern and soldered, neutralized, cleaned and polished.
This panel is 11.5 x 8 inches, and comes with a chain to hang the panel.
Due to the weight of the glass, I would recommend not using one of the plastic hooks to hang it.
As the clear glass is deeply textured, the glass itself helps to cast shades and patterns when light passes through, which adds to the interest of the panel.
Due to the value and weight of this piece it will be sent as a signed for parcel.

Before being self employed I spent many years working in a laboratory, this is where I got the molecular inspiration from.
