My work is made from reclaimed tweed which I buy from a local charity store. I am fascinated by the different colours and textures and this Russian doll shows just how colourful and vibrant they can be! It is a one off piece made to my own design. It has a lovely smiley face made from wool, a colourful patchwork body with a plain purple wool tweed back. The patchwork has been made from a variety of coloured patches of tweed sewn round with a contrasting scallop stitch and the filling is pillow filler. The body also has adornments of beading including elephants. She measures 47cm x 34cm x 10cm . She is very cuddly and would be a striking feature on any sofa, a unique gift for any Russian doll fan!

I am fascinated by Russian dolls and have made several cushions before and know there are many collectors who love them too. I just love the happy face of this design and making the micro patchwork is great fun. I enjoy finding all of the different colours and patterns of the tweed in my stash, each piece is like a jewel it is so bright and vibrant, it surprises me every time! Then piecing them together and seeing the finished effect with all of the colours is so pleasing.
