Shaving kit / toiletry bag.

Gordon tartan fabric outer with waterproof lining. There is a hand tooled, dyed and hand stitched quality leather Gordon Highlanders badge on one side and a leather carry handle. Nylon zip with antique finish puller.

The bag size is 21cm long x 14cm wide and 12cm high.

Please note: The waterproof lining would not be completely waterproof where the seam stitching is.

The Regiment adopted as its cap badge and motto the crest of the Dukes of Gordon. The main cap badge worn by the Gordon Highlanders bears the Royal Stag head of the Marquis of Huntly, which sits on a Duke’s crown. The surrounding ivy also represents the Gordon family.

The motto ‘Bydand’ is visible underneath the crown. This is a Scots word meaning ‘Steadfast’, not to run away from danger, to keep going whatever the difficulties.

On 17 September 1994, after exactly 200 years of service, The Gordon Highlanders amalgamated with the Queen’s Own Highlanders to form 1st Battalion The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).

In March 2006, the British Army evolved again and the six Scottish infantry regiments were joined together to form a new large regiment – The Royal Regiment of Scotland, and so became The Highlanders, 4th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

It is within this new identity that the legacy of The Gordon Highlanders continues to live on.
