This sweet little pillbox hat is made from vintage straw, which features an unusual delicate floral print in dark pink and deep navy/black. Modern hat materials just don’t have this look and feel these days. I have accentuated this with hand-dyed and shaped silk roses and a handmade feather and straw mount. Beautifully lined with a vintage scarf from my collection, the inside is as stunning as the outside.

The adorning roses were formed using French flower making tools – these traditional techniques have been self-taught using the vintage flower-making books I've picked up along the way. The individually painted petals of the flowers sit beautifully against the straw colour, reminiscent of a summery day in the garden.

This pillbox hat was designed to be worn on the right, with the roses sitting high behind the ear, and the feathers and straw sweeping up at the back. The feathers and straw have been mounted on millinery wire, so can be gently shaped in the direction you desire.

This button shape is very flattering on most face shapes, and is held in place with cream hat elastic which sits below the hairline at the nape of the neck. Elastic colour may be changed to black on request (no additional cost).
