Item details
Tanzanite is a rare and precious gemstone, a one location gemstone. Only discovered in 1967 in the foothills of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, it was exclusive to Tiffany's for many years, and is known as the gemstone of new beginnings. Tanzanite resides at the top of the tree as one of the Big Five gemstones alongside diamonds,rubies, sapphires and emeralds and has been designated as a birthstone for December.
The mine is not producing any Tanzanite at present now being controlled by the Tanzanian government. This has resulted in the supply of Tanzanite being very restricted at present leading to rising prices of the gem.
