This print is made using water-based printing inks on paper that I made myself, and measures approximately 8" x 6". It comes in a biodegradable bag with 100% recycled board for protection (can be mounted on the accompanying white card).

It is ready to frame, ideally float-mounted to show the deckle edge. This is done by 'suspending' the artwork inside the picture frame by fixing it to another piece of paper before framing using double-sided tape. When a piece is floated, its raw edges are visible and when you look at it from any angle, there is no sign of anything which fixes it in position. I've put up an example image of one of the fox prints that I float mounted to show what I mean - in a frame. (You can carefully trim the print to have straight edges if you prefer.)

Foxes are a feature of both countryside and urban areas. I wanted to immortalise this little fox on some paper I had made - a perfect match!

Bemused by the amount of quality recycled paper we receive as junk mail, rather than return it to be recycled I thought I'd have a go at making my own paper. It's a messy and time-consuming task, but I think the end results are worth it. I'd made a few linocuts that had not yet been printed, and wondered how they would look on my special paper - I am very pleased with the results! I love rustic, folksy (no pun intended...) things, and so I forged ahead and printed my linocuts onto the handmade paper.

Linocut is a printmaking technique whereby the artist carves a design into the linoleum surface with a sharp V-shaped chisel or a U-shaped gouge. The uncarved areas are the ones that are printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (brayer), and then impressed onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or printing press.
