Meet Jemima! Jemima is one of four rag doll friends who are all handmade by The Jemima Company, in Scotland. Jemima is 52cm tall and is made from calico. Her face has been embroidered and her hair is made from thick wool. She has black, felt boots incorporated into her legs. She has been softly stuffed to make an excellent cuddly friend.
Jemima has been safety tested under BSEN571 and is suitable for children over the age of 18 months.
Jemima comes dressed in elasticated, lace-trimmed, cotton pants; a cotton, bibbed skirt; and a cotton blouse. The bibbed skirt has Velcro fastenings on the straps and the blouse has a Velcro opening at the front. All clothes are removable and have been checked for durability and ease of use and they can be machine-washed at 30 degrees. Jemima herself can be sponge-cleaned or put into an empty, tied pillowcase and machine-washed at 30 degrees; dry Jemima flat.

I love sewing and have a huge stash of fairly small pieces of fabric leftover from projects. I thought that making rag dolls and clothes for rag dolls would be one way of reducing this stash (it hasn’t, I’ve just added to it!). I made Jemima first and started designing different outfits for her, then Alice, Emily and Olivia came along to keep her company.
