A few years ago I made a large freeform vulva and uterus with a fetus inside for an exhibition about political awareness, and afterwards I wanted to explore using the vulva motif for other makes but at the time I wasn't quite sure what. So, it's being bubbling away in my head for a while, and a few weeks ago I heard a bum bag being referred to as a "Fanny Pack" - an American term that has always amused me, as here in Britain, "Fanny" has a different meaning. Well, the bulb lit and I began to sketch and then crochet. I have ideas for quite a few different versions of Vulva Packs and, if I ever get the time, I do have an idea for a large vulva installation, whether I'll find the right place or time to do that, we'll see.
