Straight sided mugs with elegant loop handle and striking red Tenmoku glaze inside and speckled dolomite outside. Made from durable and food safe speckled stoneware clay. 8 cm diameter, 9 cm high, 250 ml. Perfect size for tea or coffee.

Food and dishwasher safe, but we prefer to hand wash our pots.

I have been selling my functional stoneware ceramics on Etsy for 3 years and have 245 sales and 72 five star reviews on Etsy > SmallFlamePottery. I'm keen to find new customers :)

I made the cups from stoneware clay on my potters wheel and cut them off the wheel using a twisted wire. The handle was cut with a wire loop and attached when leather hard. After slow drying the cups were bisque fired at 1000 C and then dipped in Tenmoku and dolomite glazes and re-fired to 1260 C in my self-built gas kiln. The gas kiln accentuates a rich red colour to the Tenmoku, while the dolomite glaze is speckled by the iron particles in the clay. Where the two glazes overlap at the lip they develop a mottled olive glaze. The base of the mugs is unglazed to show the speckled clay body.
