A colourful seascape, of a warm summer’s morning, down at the harbour. Mountain mists mimic the colours of the rainbow as the new day reflects on the sparkling calm waters that lap gently on the shore. While the boats and buoys bob about on the gentle tide.
To create this original piece, I first wet felted Merino Wool Tops, Sari Silks and Angelina Fibres using the colours of the rainbow to form the dramatic sky and sea for the backdrop. Once dry I needle felted Carded Corriedale wool to give the details of the misty mountains, shoreline, silhouetted boats and bobbing buoys. Angelina Fibre mix added brings fire to the morning sun and life to its reflection as it dances on the water. I finished the piece with an embroidered artists mark and mounted it in a simple white frame. The frame is A4 size with the mounted picture measuring 23 x 18 cm/ 9” x 7”.
The photos I have taken are without the glass in the frame to reduce reflection so you can see the true colours. I have added a couple of photos to show the process of making this piece. Several different angles have been included to try and capture the magic of the Angelina fibres. The picture will come in the glass fronted frame, to protect the piece from dust.
