Perky was created to mark the end of treatment for breast cancer. Despite having a mastectomy, I wanted to celebrate breasts in all their glory and not let others feel that because i had lost mine they were no longer to be discussed or enjoyed. The idea of painting with plaster was one that kept niggling at me during my treatment so I felt it had to be explored. This has led to many other plaster nude paintings, but Perky will always hold a special place in my heart.
