THE CELTIC HARP
Since 1735 the Celtic Harp or Clairseach been on the obverse side of every coin from The Republic of Ireland. The harp design is exactly the same on each denomination of coin, the only difference is the size which is depicted by the size of the coin.
This harp has been cut away from a genuine Decimal 2 pence coin, which was in circulation until Ireland adopted the Euro in 2002.
After cutting it is cleaned and polished, selectively plated with 24 carat gold and pure silver and given two coats of clear acrylic lacquer to protect it..
Unlike other pin badges where lead solder, or even glue is used to attach the pin, the pins on all my badges are attached using silver solder, so the bond is very strong.
A gift box is also included.
Size: - 20 mm x 10 mm. (approximately 13/16" x 1/2")
Pin Length: 7.5 mm
I also have these in different sizes cut from different Irish coins, and as a pendant - Please see my other listings.
The harp cut coin jewellery items that I make are one of my best sellers and I enjoy cutting them.
Many Irish ex-pats or Irish decedents buy them to wear with pride, especially on St. Patrick's Day.
