An original watercolour painting measuring 11 x 15 inches (28 x 38 cms) of the Elysee Montmartre building in the Montmartre arondissment of Paris. The painting was recently completed, 2012 on Saunders 425 gsm rough watercolour paper.
The wikipedia entry for this building reads
Open in 1807, the Elysee Montmartre is a music venue, at 72 Boulevard de Rochechouart, in Paris, France. It has a capacity of 1,200 patrons. The nearest métro station is Anvers.
In 1900, the venue was damaged by fire, and was re-decorated. The concert hall suffered another fire, starting on the morning of March 22, 2011, and is currently closed to the public.
It is one of the most famous music venues in the city. The venue can also host boxing matches. David Bowie's performance, during The Hours... Tour, on October 14, 1999, was filmed and recorded, with three songs later appearing on the CD single of "Survive". In 2007, The Counting Crows re-released their debut album, “August and Everything After”, as a two-disc deluxe edition. The second disc is a recording of a performance at the theatre on December 9, 1994. The venue is mentioned in The Roots' song, "You Got Me", as a place where the subject saw the band and narrator perform, even though they both lived in the same building in Philadelphia.

The watermark shown on image is not directly printed onto the painting.
I have been painting since a child, and although attempting several media I always revert back to watercolours. I have always had a penchant for townscapes or individual buildings that have an eye catching facade or unusual brickwork colouring. Although untrained (further than art O'level and that's dating me!!) I seem to produce reasonable quality artworks!
