NINE JOINED HANDS IN A CIRCLE

In 1973 a 50 pence coin was struck to commemorated Britain's entry into the EEC, The original members of what came to be known as the European Communities were the Inner Six: Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany.

Britain joined the EEC in 1973, the same year as Denmark and Ireland, so the nine joined hands depicts the nine member states joining hands in friendship.

This is a pendant which has been cut away by hand with a jewelers saw from the rim of a genuine coin, plated with 24 carat gold and selectively plated with pure silver.

It is fitted with a 20 inch gold plated chain.

A gift box is also included.

This unusual symmetrical design was just crying out to be turned into a unique item of jewellery. I have selectively plated each alternate hand in gold and silver and I think that this works well by making the hands stand out more visibly.
