The mermaid is my own design and is cast from an original which I carved/engraved in silver. I have soldered the mermaid onto an oval background where I have engraved the sea, added a moon and some rocks. The pendant is oxidised to complement a night sky.
Being handmade, each pendant will vary slightly from the picture but will be equally as beautiful!
Measuring approx 37 x 22 mm, the pendant comes with an18" sterling silver chain (16" available upon request).
Hallmarked by Sheffield Assay Office.
Mermaids, inspired by my love of mythology and the sea. A Cornish folk tale tells of The Mermaid of Zennor - a beautiful lady who attended the church in Zennor and enticed local boy Mathew Trewella, the best singer in the parish, to follow her. He was never seen again, but sometime later sailors encountered a mermaid and concluded she was the same lady who had visited the church and spirited Mathey Trewella away to live with her in the sea. I visit South West Cornwall every year and it is easy to imagine how the wild sea and landscape there can conjure up such tales. This mermaid is called Morwenna, she maybe related to the Mermaid of Zennor!
