This retro pendant features a triangle of rare Dagenham fordite bezel set in sterling silver. The fordite has bands in cream, grey and blue with occasional bands of red and yellow, giving it an overall pastel vintage feeling. I think the simple shape and colour palette mean that this piece could be worn by either a gent or a lady.
Fordite is the name given to accumulated paint build up from the old spray booths at car factories, this particular material came from Ford's factory in Dagenham in the 70's. You can see the rough in some of the photos (its not included) and because of the thickness of some of the layers I believe it was a line spraying transit vans which would fit with the presence of commercial colours like BT yellow and TNT orange. The method for painting cars has changed over the years and very little fordite is formed these days and it is getting increasing difficult to obtain especially the vintage material like this. Love the idea of fordite but want something with the orange and yellow bands you can see in the rough? Drop me a message and I'll see what I can do.
Measures approx 32 mm top to bottom and 18mm across. Comes complete with an 18 inch chain in a gift box.
