These mittens are knitted up in a 100 per cent Shetland wool yarn in nine different colours, in a fair isle design showcasing different motifs. Because of the wool content, they will need to be washed by hand at a lukewarm temperature and I find that washing them with hair conditioner - yes, really! - works a treat! The mittens can then be reshaped by hand while they're drying.

I know it's a bit early (in July in a heatwave!) to think about Christmas presents but I thought I would be more organised for a change and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about this! These mittens are knitted in a beautifully soft 100 per cent Shetland wool mix and scream winter at me - the colours and the patterns are so traditional and I'm really enjoying experimenting with different colour ways.
