This fun Chihuahua sculpture is named Lola and exactly like her friends she just loves a party! She is a mixed media dog head sculpture and like all my sculpture work has been made using the Carton Pierre method of paper clay which adds plaster in the mix to strengthen the piece, many different ingredients have been used to create this lovely one of a kind artwork.

Lola is lightweight, designed to hang via a hole cut into the back which is slotted over a screw in the wall then pulled down to lock it into place. Once the sculpture was finished I painted her with Bristol paints, varnished with French polish and added a little glaze to make her eyes and nose nice and shiny, as she is part of a new collection of sculptures called the "Party Animal" collection she is wearing a sparkly pink and gold coloured glittery party hat which has been sealed and fixed firmly on to her head.

As these sculptures are air drying time and patience is key, they have to made in stages to ensure each layer is perfectly dry so consequently it can take up to three weeks to make one sculpture. Although Lola is part of a select collection of small dogs you won't find two exactly the same as every single one is made individually by hand and has it's own personality and character making each piece an original.
