Jay feathers are said to symbolise light and joy, and coming from a clever and highly adaptable bird many see their feathers as symbols of how we can use the power of intelligence and courage in our own lives in new situations.

This original painting of the striking blue, white and black wing feather of a Jay will make a beautiful piece of art for any bird or nature lover, and especially anyone who needs reminding of their own power and is in need of a light in the darkness!

The feather is painted life-sized in the centre of the A5 sheet - the expanse of white around it emphasising the tiny little perfect jewel that the original feather is.

This piece is completed in Gouache - a highly pigmented medium that picks up the vibrant colour of the original feathers, giving you a rainbow of colours in one place. It is also painted on 300g/m2 - 140lb high quality watercolour paper.

I can't help collecting little treasures when I am out walking in the woods, or by the sea. This little jewel of a feather presented itself to me as if by magic just seconds after me thinking that I would love to find a Jay feather! What a magical moment! I just had to recreate this treasure and share some of that magic with the world!
