There are few people in Sheffield who do not have a Buffer Girl somewhere in their family history! These women were the backbone of the cutlery industry, but had a fearsome reputation. Pity the young male apprentice who had to visit their workshop! I wanted to pay a small tribute to these icons of my adopted city.
