"Purple peaks" is a semi abstract view of moorland in the Derbyshire Peak District, the very saturated colours being inspired by a sudden summer storm passing over.
This painting was created in 2018, partly from memory and partly from a series of photographs taken while touring the Peak District during 2017. It is painted in acrylic paint on cardboard and is framed in a white wooden frame.
This painting came from some practice with materials. It is painted on cardboard and makes use of acrylic paint medium to give the image body texture and saturate the colours. The landscape is imagined but is based on memory and a set of photographs of the Peak District from a touring holiday I took in 2017.
