I made this snail textile art sculpture using velvet and vintage tweed fabrics.
I hand stitched the 'shell' in green velvet, and added a red fabric flower, a hand rusted safety pin and tiny vintage mother of pearl buttons, vintage fabric,
hand stitching and slow stitching.
It has a glitter trail,
and is mounted on a vintage terracotta plant pot, worn and used, with wear, marks and use,
I also added glittery shell mica.
The perfect gift for any gardener or nature lover.
It measures aprox 6.5 inches high
This listing is for the green snail only
Not suitable for children
As with all my work this is a Folk Art style using original materials and fabrics that show use and wear,
worn patches, fixed and re-used fabrics, rusted tins, recycled and re-loved, imperfect and quirky.
I love making textile animals, especially incorporating vintage elements and worn rusty bits and pieces I collect.
I wanted to make a small series of beautiful textile and velvet snails with vintage fabrics and haberdashery and contrast them with rusted, worn and used items.
