I knew I wanted to make a print of this tree as soon as I saw it on a common on the edge of the moor in west Dartmoor. It's pretty old and has had room to spread out to its full, magnificent potential. It's a beautiful shape, but not completely symmetrical.
This print was a chance to try out a new technique to me - etching lino with caustic soda. The background, or sky, plate had caustic painted and dragged on to it to make the cloud shapes. I hope you like it!
