Our Designer maker Lorraine Bates was involved with Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in the promotion Staffordshire Hoard and this was one of the pieces inspired by her involvement with this fascinating discovery.
“Aestel” is the Anglo Saxon word thought to denote a pointer or page turner used with precious books, as in “ The King Alfred Jewel”
