My knitting belts are individually handstitched using traditional saddle-stitch and industrial grade thread. I cut the belts to your measurement with a generous overlap and lots of belt holes The buckles and rivets are strong metal and the belt is designed for a lifetime's use. Please allow up to 5 days for your order, but I am usually much quicker.
I have a selection of coloured vegetable-tanned leathers, and the stuffing is horsehair with some hog-hair. The stuffing is sterilised and packed firmly to enable your knitting needles (double pointed needles) to sit firmly..
Knitting belts work well for a knitter with arthritis as they carry the weight and allow a light touch on the needles. They tend to speed up your work and the professional knitters in previous centuries all used knitting belts (or knitting sticks - I currently cannot supply knitting sticks!). Children find they hold their needles steady to prevent dropping on the floor and to enable them to concentrate on the formation of the stitch. I have made a youtube video of a 10-year-old girl using a belt for the first time to knit a sock with 4 needles, and her stitches were so neat!
Please let me know your waist size and I will make it to fit you. Measure over winter-type clothes, with a loose measurement.

I have used a knitting belt for thirty years and whenever other knitters see it they are intrigued and ask all about it. I read that the maker of Shetland knitting belts sadly passed away recently so I decided to start to make my own. I obtain the leather and accessories locally and sit on my balcony, whether permitting, to create the belts.
