Devil’s Toenail! Substantial Rustic Gryphaea Fossil Specimen or Collectable.

Devil’s Toenail! Substantial Rustic Gryphaea Fossil Specimen or Collectable.
Love this

Devils Toenail! A large Rustic Fossil Collectable! A lovely natural and rustic Gryphaea Fossil specimen who’s edges have been soften by water and weather over time. Ideal for display as it is, as a photography prop, as a centre piece in an ornamental display for the garden or home, or maybe an office paper weight for the geological or fossil collector in the house!

The fossil can be clearly seen within the natural rock, but has been soften by nature, probably over many centuries and has been left to as close as natural as possible.

Gryphaea an extinct oyster, marine bivalve mollusk, lived on the sea bed in shallow waters, now found as fossils in special locations such as the Jurassic coast in north east, where this one was found!

The dimensions of this specimen is that it measures approx 65mms by 40mms, with a depth of approx 35mms at its thickest point. however is is irregular as hopefully can be seen in the photos.

The colours range from silvery grey, through to charcoal grey! There is some rock sediment still adhering in places.

A real testament to longevity & would make a wonderful gift for a long term friendship, a token of everlasting love or just something wonderful for budding geologists or fossil hunters!

It was located whilst fossil hunting. The piece has been worked slightly, after retrieving it from the ground, it need a little work to remove extraneous rock, debris and to highlight the wonderful devil’s toenail within.
