This painting was inspired by the artwork of Mark Rothko.

I painted it in acrylic on a 12" x 9" x 1.5" (30cm x 23.5cm x 3.5cm) canvas.

Mark Rothko is one of my favourite artists and I felt I wanted to pay homage to his work by painting something like it myself.

I love the freedom of expression in his works and the simplicity of them.

For this painting I decided to mix a range of inspired shapes from both his work and the geometric style of the mod scene in the 1960s.
