A Piece of jewellery with a difference using what is now relatively rare, Ebony Wood. Once used for Black Piano Keys it is now becoming much less available but when you can get it, it makes a striking contrast against precious metals and when combined with Gemstones like this beautiful Punk Topaz can be awesome. A very hard wood it is difficult to work well but this lovely combination provides a striking ‘dark side’ with the wonderful glimmer of Pink for its ‘eye’, with the Sterling Silver Tube Set Topaz. A sleek decorative Sterling Silver Bail accentuates the sleek ‘lines’ to the stone and suspends the pendant perfectly. Hung on a Sterling Silver Chain this pendant Necklace is 6.75cms x 1.75cm.

As I started learned no to make jewellery predominantly with Sterling Silver, I was keen to explore how it could be combined with other elements to produce beautiful jewellery. Wood was just one of a number of other elements I began to explore. Ebony seemed an obvious choice, being one of the hardest woods therefore would withstand the rigours of jewellery wear, and also quite a striking contrast with silver.. it also, having a very compact grain, polishes up nicely too.
