Viking Ring
Description
A Viking ring copy made from C101 Copper. Size Z plus. Decoration is pelleted triangles and ring and dot circles stamped with punches of my own making and with a central rib. The ends of the blank are forged out into wires that wrap around to form the shank, why? I do not know as Vikings were perfectly able to solder a normal shank but instead chose knotted wires to form the shank on this type of ring.
The inside will show bruising due to the stamping and forge marks will be apparent, this serves to demonstrate the method of manufacture.
Inspiration
Purely interest in Norse artifacts and culture, their beliefs such as the triangle represented the gateway to the next world and the ring and dot was connected to the Sun and Solar System.Jormungandr the midgard serpent, Fenrir the giant wolf, all these things fascinate me.
