Lacock Cottage - Original Lino Print and watercolour
Description
Lacock is a small village in Wiltshire, it has Tudor cottages, like the one in the image, coaching inns and a tythe barn.
This print was made by marking the image of the cottage, in reverse, onto a block of Lino. I then carved away all the places I wanted to remain white, or paint with watercolour. The Lino block is then inked up and printed. Once the ink had dried I added the watercolour and black ink to complete the picture.
Because of the process of Lino printing, and the parts of the image that were hand painted, there are slight variations between each image, ensuring that you have a unique piece of art that was created by hand.

Inspiration
Lacock is a beautiful little village in Wiltshire, it is like it has been wrapped in a time capsule. It's name comes from Saxon times when a settlement started around the Bide Brook, but it really came into life in Mediaeval times, and the village is laid out in a square as was common in those times. You can still see the tythe barn and the coaching inns.
More recently it has been used for filming period dramas, and Harry Potter.
This cottage stands at the end of one of the main streets, opposite the beautiful little primary school, I love the architecture, the room jutting out over the front door, and that it remains looking solid and welcoming after all this time.
