This 'Small and Medium breeds' dog lead is handmade from one continuous length of strong and supple Vegetable Tanned Russet Tooling leather. It's flexible and strong yet light. Each strap is cut, dyed, tooled and waxed by me to take advantage of it's natural strength, durability and beauty. In it's finished form this lead is around 140cm (55") long and 10mm (0.5") wide.
Made with traditional leather knots this lead doubles back through itself twice at each end and cannot pull undone. The leather is hand chamfered, coloured and rounded along the edges to ensure a comfortable grip and prevent chafing or rubbing. The exposed edges have a lightly smoothed yet still natural leather texture.
Only the highest quality equestrian grade fixtures and fittings are used including the solid brass clips, waxed threads and copper saddlers rivets. All are hand selected to match the style and size of each lead. The hand polished copper saddler's rivets are used for decoration and to tidy the strap ends (although they are more than robust enough to hold the strongest beast even without the knots).
As with all naturally tanned leather these products will mature and ease with age and use. They may also display unique natural features such as marks and blemishes from the outset further enhancing each item's individuality.
