Circuit board brooch, made from a recycled pcb or printed circuit board for the uninitiated.
I have set the chip in a copper surround etched with a complimentary hand drawn design. On the back is a hidden heart revealing what the circuit board looked like before polishing.
A perfect present for the nerd or geek in your family be they male or female.
It is about an inch or 2.5 cms square, the pin on the back is surgical steel.
It has been given a coat of lacquer and it is signed Hollowbourne though I changed my mind about which way up the piece needed to be and soldered half the pin over my name!
This was part of a lighting controller which had to be pensioned off after someone wired it in to the mains instead of the DC power supply it was supposed to be connected to, I thought it would make a great center piece for a piece of jewellery so rescued it from the bin. I was very tempted to make it into a ring but as I don't make rings often it ended up as a brooch. I think circuit boards look really interesting when you polish off the surface coat of colour to reveal the copper tracks beneath.
