White Kanzashi Headband

White Kanzashi Headband

Description

Kanzashi is a lovely Japanese art form, somewhat like origami, but done with fabric, generally silk. I have adapted it somewhat to make flowers from other fabrics, in this case crystal organza, which I attach to stretchy headbands. This particular kanzashi I have attached with a pin, so it can be used alternatively on a bag, hat or jacket. Both the headband and the flower are white, and there is a large black bead in the centre. The headband is 3" wide, 16" un-stretched and up to 21" stretched. It would complement a bridal outfit beautifully.

Inspiration

I discovered Kanzashi on the internet some years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed using my cotton scraps left from making pinnies to create flowers. Wondering what to do with the results I settled on headbands, hairbands and hair slides. I have sold many at Craft Fairs. I thought I'd see what happens on Folksy!
