I made this pouch out of a recycled vintage tweed suit donated by a friend in Herne Hill, London, and lined it with fabric from an original Javaprint length of red cotton. The tweed is predominantly dark olive green with threads of red and orange woven in and it fastens with a plain dark brown zip zip.
I have incorporated the original breast pocket from the jacket into the front design, for extra storage.
You can use this pouch for loads of different things. I use mine to bring some sort of order to all the flotsam and jetsam that swills around in the bottom of my bag. Make-up, travel cards, credit cards, odd coins, iPods, lipsticks etc. The shape of this pouch makes it an excellent pencil case or holder for glasses or brushes.
Because each of my pouches started as something else (a wool kilt, a tweed jacket, a cotton shirt) they come with a unique numbered card that shows what they used to be, and where they came from – a sort of pouch birth certificate.
