I made this bag out of a recycled vintage tweed suit donated by a friend in Herne Hill, London, and lined it with fabric from an original Javaprint length of red cotton. The tweed is predominantly dark olive green with threads of red and orange.
It has a flapped pocket on the outside that is part of the original jacket, another pocket inside, and fastens with an recycled leather ‘football’ button taken from a coat. The handles are sized so it can be carried in the hand or over the shoulder. Robust, practical and perfect for stuffing with books, umbrellas, water, purses, make-up bags, random shopping etc.
Because each of my bags started as something else (a wool kilt, a tweed jacket, a cotton shirt) they come with a unique numbered card that shows what they used to be, and where they came from – a sort of bag birth certificate.
All the materials I use are machine washed before the stitching starts.
approx. 29 cm high by 38 cm wide
(contents not included!)
There is a pouch and pencil case available in the same fabrics too; see shop sections.
