This tote bag has been entirely made from the good quality parts of discarded clothing.
I wash all fabrics in plant based detergent and dry them in the fresh air before I cut and sew them so you can be assured of a freshly upcycled creation.
The outer fabric is black denim. It's more of a charcoal grey than jet black due to the fact is used to be a pair of jeans. The lining is a bold cotton print with an interesting woven texture.
The leaf has been cut from a green brocade vintage fabric with a swirl in the weave and a beautiful shimmer to it. This really stands out against the denim.
It measures 36cm from top to bottom and 36cm wide. The depth at the base is 4cm and it has fuchsia pink handles. Well, why not!
Taking a break from sewing and sorting through my fabric remnants, I was struck by how much growth there is in nature at the moment. I was admiring fresh new green leaves and thought the contrast between these and black wrought iron gates of the park, would provide great inspiration for a bag design.
